Internet fonts and size are all the same HELP!!!?

okay so i had to get a new computer and when i did at first i was having trouble with the background on internet explorer is was all white and didnt show no backbrounds like my myspace one. but i found out how to fix that.. now all the words look the same same font and size on mostly every site. like for instince, myspace on my background all the words are cursive like and smaller like 10pc but now it is like ariel and 12 or 16pc i know on other ppls sites as well there words look all the same like mine.. please if anyone knows how to fix it let me know thank you so much
